If President Barack Obama really wanted to show he’s serious about winning over Republicans on health care reform, he could offer up some key concessions at Thursday’s summit, like caps on malpractice awards or allowing insurers to sell across state lines.
And if Republicans wanted to reciprocate, they could at least acknowledge the congressional scorekeepers are right — the Democratic plans cut the deficit in the long term and rein in health care costs.
But that would assume either side is willing to do this.

In a recent study by Colorlines magazine “Selling Food Stamps for Kids Shoes,” author Seth Wessler says selling food stamps is a growing survival mechanism, and one in which the already poor are being short changed. In a follow-up article for the Huffington Post on the same topic focusing on Hartford, Wessler writes, “they sell their food stamps at the corner bodega for 70 cents on the dollar just to cover basics like utility bills and winter shoes for their kids.”

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Ophthalmologist and taxpayer advocate Rand Paul has surged to a 21 point lead in the Republican Primary for United States Senate, according to a new independent poll released today. The survey, conducted by Magellan Strategies, shows Dr. Paul with a commanding 44-23 percent lead over establishment candidate Trey Grayson.
The poll also shows that likely Republican primary voters hold a 67 percent favorable opinion of the Tea Party Movement.
